About Louisiana Prison Enterprises and Our Workforce Mission
Prison Enterprises: Who We Are and Why It Matters
Prison Enterprises is a division of Louisiana’s Department of Public Safety and Corrections that runs industry, agriculture, and service programs in seven correctional facilities. It provides offenders with real job experience in trades like welding, printing, and farming. These programs help reduce recidivism by building skills, work ethic, and responsibility. In turn, they support safer communities and a stronger economy while delivering quality products and services at competitive prices.

Our Mission to Rehabilitate and Rebuild
The mission of Prison Enterprises is to lower the cost of incarceration by providing job opportunities to offenders that instill occupational and skills training, while producing quality products and services for sale to state and local governments, non-profit organizations, political subdivisions and others. Operation of the Prison Enterprises’ programs serves to further the Department of Corrections Reentry Initiative by enabling offenders to increase the potential for successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
